Lady Birds Lose to Palmyra, Macon, Centralia

The South Shelby Lady Birds lost three straight conference games this past week.
On Tuesday, September 24, the Lady Birds hosted Palmyra and lost 15-0 in four innings. The Lady Birds gave up eight runs in the first inning.
Palmyra pitched a no-hitter. The only base runner for the Lady Birds reached on an error.
On Wednesday, September 25, the Lady Birds hosted Macon and lost 18-2 in three innings.
Macon took advantage of some first inning mistakes and had a homerun that allowed them to score 11 runs in the top of the first inning.
South Shelby scored one run in the bottom of the second inning when Kaylee Gaines tripled and scored on a throwing error. They second run came in the bottom of the third inning when Callie Roetemeyer singled and later scored on an RBI single by Zoey Elliott.
On Monday, the Lady Birds traveled to Centralia to face the Lady Panthers. They lost the game 16-1.
South Shelby’s lone run came in the top of the fourth inning when Hannah Wegman singled and later scored on a groundout.
Centralia scored one in the first, three in the second, and six runs in each the third and fourth innings to cruise to a win.
The Lady Birds travel to North Shelby on Thursday, October 3, and host Louisiana on Monday and Highland on Tuesday (Senior Night). All games begin at 5 p.m.
