Shelbina Council of the Knights of Columbus Hold October Meeting

The Shelbina Council of the Knights of Columbus met on October 4th, 2018 in the Basement of the church. Prior to the meeting the 15 members present enjoyed a light meal. Grand Knight, Al Meyer, called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. He then led the Council in an opening prayer and the pledge of allegiance.
The Grand Knight announced that there would be a rosary prayer service in the Shelbina Library Park on October 13, 2018 at 12:00 noon. Also that the council would need help on October 14, 2018 cooking and serving the Ray of Hope fundraiser. This will be held in the Father Buhman Center from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
It was announced that the council will have a prolife fundraiser/banquet at the Father Buhman Center in May 2019. More details to be announced at future meetings.
The council voted to dedicate the profits from the Lenten fish fries toward the council’s scholarships. The council also voted to sponsor a family in need during the Christmas Holiday.
John Darling reported that you can start ordering Christmas wreaths. The cost is $16 per wreath. Contact any member if you want to purchase one.
Pat Heathman reported that the Tootsie Roll drive for people with developmental disabilities is going on. The council collected donations on September 28 at the South Shelby football and will collect October 6 at the four stop in Shelbina. Also after mass on October 6 and 7.
It was announced that the flag pole project is almost completed. Jerry and Stan have done an excellent job on it.
Eddie Whitney was the gun draw winner of the Ruger #1 in 6.5 creedmoor. The gun to be drawn in November is a SigSauer 1911 pistol.
The council then prayed for Russ Ebbing’s granddaughter, Ed Mahoney, Gerald Pemberton, Cameron DeGraff, Deacon John DeGraff, Margaret Gilbert, Father Ed Doyle and Father Lou Dorn.
Grand Knight Meyer then led the Council in a closing prayer and the meeting was adjourned.
