| City Ready to Send a Letter of Concurrence to Get Process Started with Demolition and Cleanup
Every day is a day closer to getting the bowling alley cleaned up and the old Hoot’s Chestnut Inn torn down, along with the possible demolition of the Ratliff (former Riley’s Clothing Store) building. The City of Shelbina hired a consultant, Debbie Shields, who is a state historian. Shields has sent everything into to the State Historic Preservation Office to get all the paperwork processed. Shields is a private consultant and a state historian who works on many grants similar to the one the City has received for the demolition of the structures in Shelbina. With everything that has been submitted, the City will have to do a letter of concurrence based on the information that it has received so far from the State. That letter will have to be sent in. “Once we get that letter of concurrence sent in it ought to be just a matter of time,” Klusmeyer said. When asked how long it would be after the letter of concurrence was sent in, Klusmeyer said he was almost afraid to try to pinpoint a time. “Things have taken longer than what we expected, so now I’m afraid to say anymore.” He did add that the City has completed everything on its part except the letter of concurrence. Shields stated to Klusmeyer that she would get with him in the near future and help him draft that letter to get sent off. For the full story, see this week’s issue of the Shelbina Weekly.

| Drug Arrests Made in Shelby County by Drug Task Force and Sheriff’s Department
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department worked in a joint investigation with the North Missouri Drug Task Force recently on a case that led to felony drug charges being filed against Robert A. Harris, 50, and Kelley L. Harris, 51, both of 603 East Hazel Street in Clarence. Shelby County Prosecutor James McConnell, charged both defendants with distribution of a controlled substance near a school, which are class A felonies. According to McConnell, the arrests were made on Friday, July 16, with the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol for incidents occurring on Friday, March 5, and another incident involving only Robert Harris, on Tuesday, April 20. The felony complaints indicate that the defendants knowingly sold marijuana within 2,000 feet of the Clarence Elementary School, according to McConnell. He was also arrested for driving while revoked, McConnell added For the full story, see this week’s issue of the Shelbina Weekly.
