| President Obama Travels Through Shelby County in Route to Macon
President Barack Obama is making his way through Northeast Missouri today and is expected to make stops in Monroe County and in Macon County as part of his two-day White House to Main Street Tour. He is expected to tour the POET Biorefinery located on Highway 36, about three miles east of Macon at 11:55 today. The event is not open to the public, but he will be back in Quincy, Ill., to speak later Wednesday. Obama landed in Quincy on Tuesday and was there just a short time before taking a helicoptor ride to Fort Madison, Iowa, to tour the Siemens Energy facility. He then held a town-hall meeting in Ottumwa, Iowa later that afternoon before spending the night in Des Moines. The President landed back in Quincy Wednesday morning before a motorcade traveled from Quincy to to Macon, cutting through Shelby County and the towns of Shelbina and Clarence on Highway 36. The Shelbina Weekly will have much more on this event and the local people who were involved with it in next week’s edition.

| Shelbina City Council Approves
No Parking and Stop Signs in Town
The Shelbina City Council and Shelbina City Marshall Daniel Dovin agreed to put up additional stop signs and no parking signs in strategic parts of the City, during Tuesday night’s Shelbina City Council Meeting at the City Hall. New Signs City Marshall Daniel Dovin said he had concerns about vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed on East Walnut. He suggested making the intersection of East Walnut and Fourth Street a four-way stop. He also suggested making East Mill and Dickerson a three-way stop, West Wood and South Shelby a three-way stop and no parking signs along Dickerson Street. All of this was approved by the council.
