Signs have recently been put in place to warn motorists about horses and buggies traveling county roads and highways in Shelby County. Motorists are urged to slow down to avoid a potential collision with these buggies.

With the emergence of some Amish families in Shelby County, the sight of horses pulling buggies down blacktops, city streets and highways is becoming more common.
According to Shelby County Sheriff Dennis Perrigo, motorists need to be aware of these people traveling on the roads, and to drive with caution.
“People need to slow down. We’ve had five or six families move in and they are traveling on (Route) HH and Highway 15,” Perrigo explained.

Bowling Alley Building beginning to crumble.

The top of the west wall of the Bowling Alley building had a major shift over the weekend as the top portion of the wall leaned onto the roof. Parts of the bricks from the wall fell in on the roof. The bowling alley structure and Hoot’s Chestnut Inn are both in the plans to be torn down thanks to a emergency demolition grant the City was able to acquire for the property owners. Shelbina City Superintendent Rob Trivette encouraged people to stay away from the structures as much as possible.   2518 1013 3/31/2010 hdl
