Paula Gough, Northeast District Engineer for MoDOT was the guest speaker at the Shelbina Chamber Banquet Saturday night.

The Northeast District Engineer of MoDOT, Paula Gough, was the guest speaker at the Shelbina Chamber of Commerce Banquet Saturday night at the American Legion Hall in Shelbina.
   Gough gave a history of Highway 36 and talked about the completion of the four-lane project. She was quick to point out that it wouldn’t be an “if you build it they will come,” scenario, even though the four-lane will bring more opportunities for business.
   Gough talked about the economic situation and how it has affected future highway projects across the state. She assured everybody that the Highway 36 project was in the bank and would be completed later this year.

A one-vehicle accident left a Hunnewell woman with moderate injuries on Wednesday, Feb. 24, two miles southwest of Hunnewell on Monroe County Road 390.
   According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 68-year-old Martha E. Howell was traveling south and attempting to make a left turn on to Route 390 when her vehicle slid off the south side of the road, overturned and rolled down an embankment.
