Sam Buckman is pictured with his family. Sam and his wife Nell are seated in front of their sons, left to right, Matt, Mike and Martin.

It’s a beautiful sunny fall afternoon with pleasant temperatures. Sam Buckman is pacing back and forth in the sun room in the back of his house. He seems almost nervous. He describes himself as feeling “goosy” and says it’s better to stand and move around. Sam was diagnosed with what is known as stage four colon cancer. But that has been changed to a metastasizing cancer. Which means it jumps around from organ to organ and moves around the body. It went from his colon to his lungs and liver and lymph node system, and now it has metastasized to all of his body.
Less than two and a half years ago, doctors gave Sam five years to live. Time is ticking and he knows that every second counts.
After talking with his family and with the encouragement of his long-time respected friend Edgar Moore, Sam agreed to talk to me because he has some important things he wants to say.
