| Daryle Singletary
|
The Northeast Missouri Old Threshers are teaming up with the Blue Ryno Foundation to bring country singer and songwriter Daryle Singletary to this year’s Old Threshers event on Saturday, Sept. 19. Proceeds from the concert will go to The Blue Ryno Foundation. The Blue Ryno Foundation was created in 2005 by former major league baseball player Ryan Klesko. The long-time Atlanta Brave star was with the San Diego Padres at the time he started the foundation. Klesko started the foundation to help as many families with children facing the grim reality of a cancer diagnosis. For the full story, see this week’s issue of the Shelbina Weekly.

MoDOT, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Eighth District State Representative Tom Shively and Shelby County Sheriff Dennis Perrigo were at South Shelby High School on Wednesday, Aug. 26, to spread the word about House Bill 62, which among many things, prohibits drivers 21 and under from texting while behind the wheel. MoDOT Northeast District Engineer Paula Gough presented a sign which read “Don’t text and drive...it’s the law” to students from the high school. Shively, who said he hasn’t sent many text messages, but is starting to get the hang of it thanks to his granddaughter, said this law has been put in place to protect people.
