The Shelbina City Council discussed problems with nuisance areas throughout the town, and heard City Administrator Dennis Klusmeyer briefly discuss utility rate structures during the regular council meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the Shelbina City Hall.
   Nuisance Issues
Shelbina citizen Charlie Gaines spoke during the public comment portion of the meeting about places around town that are beginning to look worse each day. He pointed out several areas throughout the city and said that if something wasn’t done, nobody will want to move to Shelbina. Gaines said the City needs to follow through when it contacts people or it will get worse.
Council member Sonia Schaeffer asked if the ones on the list had been notified. Klusmeyer said all of them had. She then asked how long they have after they are notified. Klusmeyer said the entire process takes about 30 days. Even if the grass gets mowed, it’s grown back up and the 30 day process has to start over from the beginning, which allows the grass to get out of hand again.
