| Shelbina City Council Looking to Get “More Bang For The
Buck” With Street Repairs
The Shelbina City Council took care of things in less than an hour Tuesday night in its regular meeting at the City Hall. Street Plan City Administrator Dennis Klusmeyer told the council he would like to get “more bang for the buck” with the street maintenance this summer. Klusmeyer wants to do a major chip and seal project that would prolong the condition of some streets. Earlier in the meeting the council approved a motion to accept a bid from Bross Construction for $45,610 to pour two inches of hot mix asphalt over three existing streets. The three streets are West Mill from Highway 15 to South Shelby Street; Myers Street from West Mill to West College; and South Shelby Street from West Mill to West College. Klusmeyer later mentioned the City has $80,000 budgeted for street work. For the full story, see this week’s issue of the Shelbina Weekly.

| Lowery Carnival Company
Makes Second Trip to Shelbina
| Local kids enjoyed one of the rides at the Shelby County Fair last week at the Fairgrounds north of Shelbina.
When the Lowery Carnival Company rolled into Shelbina last week for the Shelby County Fair, most people probably assumed this would be their first trip to Shelby County, and possibly their last. Owner Tony Lowery said the fourth generation family owned and operated business was in Shelbina once before. “My father Bill ran this business in the 1960’s and we came here to the Shelby County Fair in Shelbina back in 1965,” Tony explained. Tony is one of three children of Bill and Carolyn Lowery. His brother Willie and his sister Jaccqueline both take an active role in the business along with Tony. The Lowery Carnival Company, Inc. is a fourth generation family owned and operated business geared toward providing quality family-fun since the early 1960’s.
