South Shelby FFA Advisor Tim Larrick said he was very proud of his group of kids that participated in the State FFA Convention on Thursday and Friday. He should be. The Ag Sales Team placed first and qualified to compete in the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. later this year. South Shelby FFA Members Tyler Wilt was named the state winner of the FFA Beef Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. Shelbina native Gary Leu is a member of the America’s Road Team (ATA) for 2009-10. With that honor comes responsibility, something Leu takes seriously. Leu and other members of the ATA have been involved with the “Share the Road” program. It is a program that instructs drivers of all vehicles how to be safer while traveling on the highway. Leu was at the Shelbina Senior Center on Friday to talk about specific things drivers could do to avoid accidents. For the full story, see this week’s issue of the Shelbina Weekly.

| Crime Victims Ceremony Held at the Shelby County Courthouse

| Several Shelby County Courthouse employees and County leaders attended the Crime Victims ceremony at the Courthouse Thursday.
|
Crime Victims Rights Week is April 26 through May 2, with this year’s theme being “25 Years of Rebuilding Lives: Celebrating the Victims of Crime Act.” A ceremony was held on the Shelby County Courthouse lawn Thursday, April 16. Speakers included Judge Hadley Grimm, Shelby County Prosecuting Attorney Jim McConnell and Becky Allee of a victim advocate of AVENUES. A tree will be planted at the Clarence City Lake in honor of the event.
