| Power Outage Monday Afternoon
Caused by broken Power Line Pole
The world came to a stop for many Monday afternoon in Shelbina, Lakenan and South Shelby as the power went out for a little over 30 minutes. According to Wayne Hackman of Macon Electric Coop, a pole broke about a mile northeast of Cairo, affecting substations at both Lentner and Shelbina. The break was on a transmission system (high voltage line). This caused a power outage that affected the entire city of Shelbina, all of South Shelby High School and Middle School, and the Lakenan community from 1:48 p.m. until 2:20 p.m. For the full story, see this week’s issue of the Shelbina Weekly.
