| Peak Retires from the Shelbina Post Office
| Learel Peak retired Tuesday from the Post Office.
Learel Peak spent his last day delivering mail on Tuesday. A retirement party was held in his honor at the Shelbina Post Office. Learel worked for the United States Post Office for 30 years, all in Shelbina, plus four years of military service. As Peak thought back over his years of service the thing he said that has changed the most has been the development of computers and technology. “There’s been a lot of changes. The Post Office found computers. I think that’s been the biggest change. There’s not anything that goes on that computers aren’t involved with now. When I started, we didn’t even know computers exist,” he said. For the full story, see this week’s issue of the Shelbina Weekly.

Time Since it’s Short Handed With Staff
During the closed session of the Shelbina City Council meeting last Tuesday, the council passed a motion for the City to pay four weeks of Shelbina City Clerk Mary Lou Craigg’s accrued comp time in lieu of authorizing time off while the City is short handed with its staff. The motion, which was made by Sonia Schaeffer and seconded by Jim Wood, comes at a time when the City is without a City Administrator. Since the resignation of Chris VanHouten, Dennis Klusmeyer has been working for $25 an hour in an as needed basis until someone is hired to fill the position.
