| Pipeline Station Being Put Back in Service
| There were nearly 73 people working on the pipeline that runs northwest of Shelbina Tuesday.
Approximately 73 workers are on hand working on the pipeline station located northwest of Shelbina on County Road 435. According to Tim Anderson of Enbridge Inc. of Pontiac, Ill., the station has been out of service for a few years and they are in the process of getting it back in service. Pictured above are crews working on a tie-in that will transfer Canadian crude oil back to the existing station. The reason they are doing this is to expand the capacity of the pipeline to 190,000 barrels a day. Currently it’s at 125,000 barrels a day. The line, which runs from Canada, supplies markets in Oklahoma. The project has been going on for about four months and should be completed by May 1.

| Calvert Has Many Fond Memories as She Closes in on Her 100th Birthday
| Leona Calvert will be 100 years old on Monday.
When asked if she ever thought she would live to be 100 years old, Leona Calvert thought for a second. “I never really thought about it, you just live day by day and see what the good Lord brings you,” she explained. Leona Calvert was born in Bethel and the only time she ever lived outside of Shelby County was when she and her husband Chester spent three years in LaBelle. Chester was the superintendent of the school district at that time. She taught elementary age children for 25 years. She spent many of those years teaching in a rural school, and also taught six years of sixth grade at Shelbyville and Shelbina Elementary Schools. For the full story, see this week’s issue of the Shelbina Weekly.
