The MFA facility on East Maple in Shelbina is 57 years old and showing its age. The completion of the new facility on West Maple gives its employees and customers a better place to work and purchase products.
“When they started this project they made it to where our warehouse space would be enough to house about 10,000 units of seed, which has been our drawback from the other warehouse,” Manager Chuck Miles explained.

The Shelbina City Council decided to widen its parameters on its City Administrator search, allowing whoever takes the position to live outside the city limits if they so choose. This decision was made during the regular city council meeting Tuesday night at the Shelbina City Hall.

   Position
The City of Shelbina is currently without a city administrator. Mayor John Smith and the council decided it would be best to allow candidates for the city administrator position to not be required to move to town if they would get the job.

MoDOT Director Talks About Belt Law, Cost Share Projects

MoDOT Director Pete Rahn was in Hannibal on Thursday talking to the public about his interest in making the State’s seat belt law a primary law. He also talked about cost share projects such as the Highway 36 four-lane highway.

Missouri Department of Transportation Director Pete Rahn carries a list with him all the time of 2,183 names of people who have died on Missouri roadways in the last four years who weren’t wearing seat belts. Rahn, who was in Hannibal on Thursday, said that he is pushing hard to make Missouri’s seat belt law a primary law.
If it would become a primary law, a person could get pulled over and ticketed for not wearing a seat belt. As it stands now, a driver has to be pulled over for another reason and then can be given a ticket for no seat belt.
Rahn said the people on his list range in age from four months old to 97 years old. “It is heart-sickening to see these names and to know that if we had a primary belt law passed in 2005, that 360 of those names would not be there,” he said. Currently 25 states and the District of Columbia have primary safety belt laws.
