| Shelby County Takes a Step Forward with
Approval of the Enhanced Enterprise Zone
Shelby County Economic Development Director Robert Harrington couldn’t be more happy about the recent approval of the Enhanced Enterprise Zone (EEZ) for Shelby County. The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) approved Enhanced Enterprise Zone (EEZ) designation for Shelby County. This designation will allow the Shelby County area to continue to move forward in its economic development efforts. “During these tough economic times we must do everything we can to support economic development and help to create jobs,” said Gov. Jay Nixon. “I am pleased we are able to help Shelby County with this important effort to enhance its economic development initiatives.” “I’m relieved this is in place. We’ve been working on this for eight months now. It’s been a long endevor. There has been a lot of people and cities that have helped out by passing ordinances and resolutions we needed to get this approved. The county commission, city councils and the Shelby County Economic Development Board and the members of the EEZ board have all worked hard on this,” Harrington said.
