| Mayor Says New City Pool
Won’t be Ready by Summer
Shelbina Mayor John Smith said Tuesday that it will probably be the summer of 2010 before the new public swimming pool will be open for business. Smith said that with the absence of a city administrator at this time, he is having to do most of the leg work for the pool during his lunch hour and after work. “I talked to the city administrator of Vandalia. They just built a new pool two years ago and he said you’re looking at 10 to 12 months,” Smith explained. For the full story, see this week’s issue of the Shelbina Weekly.

| Property Cleaned Up
Now that the old “Little Property” has been cleaned up on Center Street in Shelbina, the City Council would like to somehow fix the property up possibly as a picnic area. The land can’t be developed for four years with another structure, but it could be made into a very nice location for people to gather in the warm months. It would also be a nice place to view the Farmer’s Day Parade. Members of the council were planning to talk to some of the local civic clubs in Shelbina for ideas and help.
