| Auditors Come Up With Several Suggestions For Shelby County Courthouse Employees
|
|
An audit of the Shelby County Courthouse took place in 2008 with the results becoming public toward the end of the year. This is a summary of what findings were made by the auditors and what suggestions they had to county officials about those findings. There were procedures that were used by Shelby County Collector John Chinn that auditors were not satisfied with. They were not happy with the collector’s procedures for preparing monthly and annual settlements. It was also noted that the settlement for the year ended Feb. 29, 2008 contained errors and omissions. There seems to be some confusion with the collector’s computer’s inability to reprint daily and monthly totals, thus making it difficult to verify the accuracy of those totals. Special Projects Board members, administrators and R-IV Superintendent Rick Roberts discussed possible special projects and how they would fit into the budget for 2009. Some of the projects in Clarence included ADA modifications, guttering, rotating new desks in and getting rid of old ones and classroom counter tops. Those are things that are to be done. Some future ideas included air conditioning for the library, carpet for the kindergarten, landscaping in front of the school and tuckpointing the buildings.
